This series originally appeared in Living Springs Institute's bi-monthly publication, Shaqah. It is six parts in length, and appeared in sequential order in Shaqah Issues #25, #27, #28, #29, #31, and #33. They are presented here without modification, just as they appeared in each of their respective issues of Shaqah. However, for convenience, each part has been republished in its own independent PDF file so you can read, save, and print them as you may desire.
The highlight of this series is the difference between Gnostic philosophy and true Biblical Christianity. The popularity of books such as The Da Vinci Code, and even writings from antiquity, such as The Gospel of Judas, were the catalyst for writing this series; and on that point, the opening paragraphs of Part I are about as good an introduction to this series as you can have. That being said, I want to use this introduction to emphasize, this series is in no way strictly about those works! It was not my intent to directly answer theological questions posed in any specific writing(s), or to do a point by point rebuttal of specific items portrayed in them. Rather, my intent was to talk more generally about why the kind of ideas presented in such writings can't simply be adopted into true Biblical theology, especially as it relates to the work of Christ.
So often, conversations about what is right and what is wrong do not start at their logical beginning; and the devil is very good at clouding many issues by using this technique. This series is an attempt to bring our minds back to more foundational issues, which if understood correctly, will refute the ideas presented by false religion. Thus, this series should be helpful to anyone facing questions from others who are fans of the theologies presented in the above mentioned works, as well as followers of various false religions. (I Pet. 3:13-17) On top of all that, this series also covers an assortment of subjects which affect our everyday walk with God; and I hope many will find it to be educational on a personal level. However, if what you read here does not answer your questions or brings up new ones, write to us or use the Q&A submission page on this website, and we will be happy to address any issue.
In closing, the simplest introduction I can give to this series is to say, it is intended to help people follow the command given in Romans 12:2 which instructs, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
